We're revamping our Planet A Investment Guide and would love your input

Help us outline the options for South Africans seeking people- and planet-friendly funds

“I don’t want to invest my hard-earned funds in the fossil fuel industry - the coal, oil and gas companies that are wrecking our planet - but which alternatives are available to us South Africans?”

This is a question we’re often asked. Our Fossil Free South Africa Planet A Investment Guide attempts to begin to answer it by providing descriptions of funds that are as fossil fuel-free, green and socially responsible as possible. A substantial update was made in April 2021 and the last additions were made in March 2022, so we expect there is some catching up to do, and we’d love your input! Help us sift through the intentional and unintentional greenwashing, let us know if there are ways we can filter out the companies funding or providing arms to the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza (we’re doing events on this issue soon), or the civil war in Sudan.

Find the current version here. We’re keen to hear about new funds, changes to funds we’ve already listed and other comments you may have to help us make this document as thorough and helpful as possible for our steadily growing community of people- and planet-centred investors.

We’ll also be building new momentum behind our long-running, all-too-slow-burn #InvestFossilFree campaign – we’ll soon be rolling out a new strategy for finding existing clients of SA’s top asset managers who want ethical, fossil fuel-free investments.
