Alert to journalists: we’ve updated our Climate Reporting Guide
Our third update completed in May
We’ve updated our Climate Reporting Guide for South Africa with a host of new info, including the latest science; an analysis of the fossil fuel industry’s role in causing creating climate breakdown; the low-down on greenwashing, and new online resources to consult.
The guide was launched two years ago and is regularly updated. It was written by experienced journalists under the auspices of FFSA, to help other journalists working under pressure to report accurately and proactively about climate breakdown. (We’re using this term rather than “climate change”, as it more accurately captures the danger of the human-induced shifts and is one of the terms that respected international news outlets are now adopting.)
The guide is thorough but handy and searchable but thorough, and provides a list of contact details for scientists and other experts who’re happy to take your calls.
Consult it if you’re writing about any of the myriad ways climate breakdown is affecting our lives, be this through floods, fires or droughts; court action about greenwashing and human rights violations; changes in agricultural yields; economic trends; human rights indicators and, of course, environmental shifts.
We hope you’ll find it useful! Feedback is always welcome.
